How to Set Up your Disqus Profile

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

How many of you love Disqus???  I have had it installed for about a month and I don't know why I didn't get on the DISQUS train sooner, but at any rate, I'm on it now!  I love that you when you reply in the comment thread that an email is sent to the replier, so that they can view it and respond back if they feel so inclined.  I think it opens the door wider than any other comment platform to further communication which leads to an easier way for us to BUILD COMMUNITY.

Lately I've noticed that a couple of my freqent commenters and I want to connect with have blank Disqus profiles.  I want to connect with them outside of the comment threads on twitter, facebook or maybe to visit their blogs if they have one - and am so bummed when their profile is blank.
TODAY WE'RE FIXING THAT!!

1. Go to Disqus and sign in. In the top right, your tiny picture that pops up the following
below, click Settings.

2. It will bring you to this page, in the Edit your profile window, click Profile.

3. Add in your name, website and a bio.  If you don't have a website or blog send us to your favorite social media profile (twitter would be good!).  We want to communicate with you!

4. Next, click Avatar and upload that pretty face!! EFFICIENCY ALERT: Scroll down and let Disqus use your Twitter profile pic, that way it should change automatically when you change your twitter profile picture. #twobirdswithonestone :)

Now, when people see you in comments and want to find out more about you, look at everything they'll see when they click your name!!
I hope you enjoyed this quick little tutorial and that you update your profiles so that we can keep on connecting and build a stronger, better community!!!

xoxo, Aukele

  1. I love Disqus! So much better than the usual Blogger comment platform.

  2. I have the same issue with Disqus! I think this profile thing is fairly new so a lot of people don't know about it? I certainly didn't until a few weeks ago! Previously, clicking on someone's Disqus name led to her blog already, didn't it?

Thanks for the twitter profile pic info. I must do that!

  3. I agree. It's even better when blogs with other platforms use it as well so that we don't have to sign in or anything, lol. Lazy days!!
