4 Reasons I Love Blogging

Thursday, September 12, 2013

It is safe to say that life has changed for the better since I started blogging in January 2012.  I have found a hobby that doesn't cause a big mess in my tiny apartment.  I have found a hobby that can literally be done anywhere.  And I have found a hobby that can challenge and push my creative side.

For today's blogtember challenge with Jenni, I wanted to share four reasons why I love blogging (and how it has changed me) in hopes that some of my readers who haven't started blogs - start one today!

1) Friendships
Since May, when I really dug deep to find my blogging voice, I have been able to make some really great
blogging friends.  I am loving it.  I have to admit, I'm at the point in my life where everyone is settling down, focusing on their career, taking care of other priorities - which leads me to not hanging out with my real-life friends (not that I have many) hardly ever.  The friendships I've made through blogging are so worth it and have been such a blessing in my life.  I am excited to create stronger friendships online as I continue blogging!

2) Education
Whether you want to or not, you learn so much from blogging.  There is so much information to learn about whether it be html/css, photoshop/picmonkey, seo/analytics.  I mean the list goes on and there is so much to mention in this area.  Of course, you do not have to learn it all - but it is all there for you at your fingertips.  Who knows where this will take you if you really take a liking to it and dive all the way in - and all thanks to blogging, right?!

3) Opportunities
There are so many opportunities that can come your way through blogging.  Developing relationships with corporate brands, networking with online entrepreneurs, making money through affiliations, sponsorships, sponsored blog posts.  And the list goes on.  Not only can you come across opportunities from other businesses and bloggers, but you can also DEVELOP your own opportunities. You could jump on a really popular series you create and develop materials readers and your audience would actually want to buy! If it weren't for blogging, you probably would never had come across (or realized) those opportunities!

4) Personal Growth
Through blogging I have grown as a person.  I have learned the benefit to holding my tongue!  I have
learned how to deal with personalities that I usually do not associate myself with (if I don't have to).  I have exercised planning and time management skills.  I think the biggest growth that I have experienced through blogging is loving myself more, just as I am.  Prior to blogging - I had a struggle with it, but there is something about blogging that frees my spirit and let's the real me shine through.  That I'm most thankful for!

Are you a blogger?  How has blogging changed you?  If you're not a blogger, are you considering it and what is stopping you from starting?  Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I'm working on a similar post about my six month blogging anniversary, and everything you said is SO true.
poverty luxe almost didnt happen, I made the blogger profile almost a year before i posted anything, because I was too afraid that nobody would read it, or people would think its dumb, or I'd run out of content.
so I've had to stretch myself A LOT in the bravery/creativity departments in order to keep the blog going, but the cool thing is, not only has the blog grown, but all this confidence, excitement and creativity has spilled into other areas if my life as well.

  13. How great is this! I also love digging into the nitty-gritty side of blogging--HTML, design, etc. I had always wanted to learn how to use Photoshop/Gimp and blogging is giving me the courage to just jump right in. PS: Your new design is lovely. Wonderful work!
