10 THINGS TO DO WHILE I GET MY ACT TOGETHER

Wednesday, May 14, 2014

So after putting my business out there yesterday - I thought today we'd do a little something different.  One hundred percent inspired by this post from Pump & Iron.

Guess what though... I am making head way! #productive!  I purchased two domain names that I seriously procrastinated on.  One of the domains will be a re-brand for this blog, and the other will be a new blog dedicated to my recipes and all things FOOD! Woot woot.  So excited that the first (easy) step is done.  Moving on.  While I still try to get my act together, here are ten things you can do to keep yourself busy in anticipation of all that is planned! :)

1. BUY A NEW BEACH BAG OR THERMAL AT THIRTY ONE GIFTS.

I am absolutely in love with this company, it's values, mission and products.  It is seriously the perfect time to get a new beach bag and/or thermal in preparation for summer.

Left to right, top to bottom: Euro Straw Tote $55 (comes in one other color); Picnic Thermal Tote $35 (available in 14 different prints); Fresh Market Thermal $50 (available in 7 prints); Inside Out Bag $40 (available in five prints).

And guess what!  If you spend $31, you could get the Picnic Thermal or the Fresh Market thermal at HALF PRICE.  Plus, two of the prints for the Inside Out Bag is on sale RIGHT NOW for $20.  So you should definitely scoop those deals up today, and contact me if you want more information and I can help you get squared away.

2. EAT FRESH AND SEASONAL STRAWBERRIES.

While I was in Maui over the weekend I had the best strawberries I've tasted all year.  Needless to say, strawberry season is just about ready to be in full swing, and you better get those hands of yours on a pint soon!!! They were so juicy and sweet.  Completely perfect on their own, though I  wouldn't mind dipping them in some sour cream and brown sugar.

3. PLAY A GAME OF DOMINOES.

It ain't no secret that I love me a game of dominoes.  I am super competitive and love winning - though I do get my fair share of some good 'ol humble pie.  It is such an easy game to learn and pick up and its really about the luck of the draw and counting the dominoes.  Another fun name for the game is called bones!  I love to play this game with my family or R and it's always a fun time full of hearty smack talkin!!  And hey - check out my pin that shows you how to create your own!

4. RE-CREATE ONE OF MY DIYS.

Lately I've been on a DIY kick.  I am just loving creating things for my bedroom to really make it my own and I have been sharing my experiences and outcomes along the way.  Now before you get too excited.  Don't expect to be seeing me put together a table with me cutting out wood pieces to size, sanding it down, putting a finish on it and whatever.  This isn't Shabby 2 Chic here.  Nonetheless - novice DIY'er!?  Hey - so am I, you'll feel right at home here:
   + DIY Coasters

5. LISTEN TO ISLAND MUSIC WHILE INHALING THE OCEAN AIR.

Last Saturday I enjoyed a perfect day in Maui.  It's funny.  When you live in a place like Hawaii, such as I do, you take advantage of what's around you and rarely make it to the beach.  In Maui we spent the entire day lounging at the beach and pool with traditional Hawaiian music playing in the background.  It was such a relaxing and calming day!  While not all of us are able to get to the ocean, we can still light a candle that is reminscent of the ocean, or possibly go to a lake or river and listen to the water move.

6. PLAN A STAYCATION.

Riding on the heels of that last "to do".  Please do plan a staycation.  Just hanging out in another city for the day and over night can do wonders for your soul!  Experiencing new things right in your hometown, or actually doing things your town is known for instead of taking it for granted and not ever going to the beach the last five months of your life. DO IT NOW!

7. MAKE ONE OF MY RECIPES.

You all know that I love a good recipe.  And I would love love love to know what you think of mine, after all - I will be starting a new food blog soon!!  Go make something yum!
   + Curried Rice
   + Fried Rice
   + Kamaboko Dip

8. WATCH THIS.

9. READ "I AM THAT GIRL" BY ALEXIS JONES

I saw this book at one of the local Icing stores and was definitely intrigued by it and all the extra products associated with the brand, but I wasn't quite sure I wanted to purchase it.  Since walking out of the store I could stop thinking about it, and so I thought maybe I'd get it through the Kindle store or iBooks, but it isn't available digitally yet.  So I went to Amazon and purchased it, and it should be here any day now thanks to that lovely PRIME shipping.  This book is all about speaking your truth and creating your own magic.  I'm excited to get it as it fits perfectly with the direction I want my blog to go in.  Hurry up Amazon!

10. PURGE (NOT THE MOVIE).

If you've been following me at all, you know that I've been working at decluttering my life - specifically my bedroom.  Every week I'm throwing things out or giving them away.  Purging all the junk feels like a cleanse.  I feel refreshed after, I can breathe a little easier.  I am more relaxed in my room and can enjoy just a little bit of serenity.  There is a lot more work to be done, but I've made a ton of progress and it is probably one of my biggest successes this year!

And there you have it!  Ten things to do while I attempt to get my act together :)

xoxo, Aukele

  7. I'm from Kailua, my family is still in the area so its always a treat to go back home and to stay in Kailua. My recent trip, back in January, I brought some first time visitor friends with me and my family (I'm married w/3 kids) so it was fun playing tour guide for them and give them the local sites to see and things to do. How did I find your blog? I think I was googling "Hawaii bloggers" or something. I love reading blogs from locals. Especially when the blogs are things I personally enjoy like food and DIY.

  9. Oh fun!!! I love it. I was just there yesterday. We went to the beach. It was overcast, and thunder coming from Kaneohe side - so we left. Right after coming out of the H3 tunnel back into Aiea.... BOOM the rain! Today is cloudy in some areas and blue skies in others - you know how that goes!

  10. So far it's been great. I need to read it slow so that I can act on some of the things it talks about in there. First chapter is about passion - which is always good to be refreshed on!
