PARTY PARTY APP + a giveaway

Tuesday, July 29, 2014

The "A Beautiful Mess" girls really outdid themselves with the Party Party App!  I am loving it and love finding new ways to use it and really stretch my creativity.  Don't know what I'm talking about? Click here and here.
Moving on... This is a game changer for bloggers around the world.  We're talking fun photo booth sessions, stop motion inanimate objects, food recipe steps - the list just goes on and on.  Sometimes I get lost in the #partypartyapp hashtag on IG checking out all the cool things others are doing with the app. Besides being able to import your own photos (which ABM has already addressed); I'd love to be able to record video in the app and add text, cause what's a good gif without a caption, right?
If you have an iPhone, go get the app now and have some fun with it!! Now onto this giveaway... It's definitely a party day here at 91 Dash.
One of my dear blog friends, Crystal, is celebrating her one year blog birthday and she has put together an amazing giveaway for all of you.  Besides Crystal's encouraging outlook on fitness and health, I'm so thankful for her and her insights when it comes to relationships.  For those who have been around for a while, you all know I took a pretty big blogging break at the end of 2013 due to a pretty toxic break up.  I'm so thankful for Crystal as she was a shoulder I could lean on and just vent to.  I couldn't be more happy to participate and celebrate her and all that she has accomplished!

Weekly Wishes // 009

Monday, July 28, 2014

Thow the confetti, light the sparklers!  This girl finally made some headway with the 'ol food blog!  The wheels are finally turning and I couldn't be more excited.  This has been a goal for quite a while and I'm so glad its making true progress and coming together.  It is no where near done, but I'm just going to start creating content while I work on the aesthetics of it anyway, so bare with! And without further introductions... please welcome to the blogsphere:

Last week I wanted to focus on creating more content for a simple print shop idea that has floated about in my head for around a year.  I was able to create a few pieces, and am excited to get more inspiration to do more.  The others revolved around health - eating simply healthy and writing up my post on my Purium experience.  So those haven't really come to fruition, but I am starting a mini Purium cleanse today for three days and plan on having it well documented this time around and hopefully that will inspire me to finish off this long overdue piece.

My Three Goals:
My body is definitely ready for it, my mind (which is so integral to success of these types of things), not so much.

I'm only doing it for three days, opposed to the original ten - but I really need a better game plan and prep for after.

Now that it is out and started I am excited to crank out some content.  I am trying to figure out my voice on the site.  I don't want it to just be a lil ramble + recipe.  I guess I'll try out a few different voices and see which one I enjoy most writing it and which ones people respond to better!

What are your goals this week? Don't forget to link up with Melyssa

Friday, July 25, 2014

Well this week went by fast.  Actually it didn't.  On Wednesday I wished it were Thursday.  Thursday I wished it were Friday. But OH HEY FRIDAY - you're finally here and it's about time!  I'm linking up again with September Farm today, so come on down and join the party!!

Say WHA???  Yep!  Our modem went down and so I've been without internet at home.  BOO-sauce.  I really wanted to post more this week, but its kind of hard when you don't have internet at home!!

I've been crushing on green juice and getting it any way that I can.  I love to make it at home, but love to get it at a juice shop too!  At home, I make my basic recipe (<---- click the link).  However, I'm in LOVE with the Super Green at Lanikai Juice!  It is made with Kale, Spinach, Mint, Apple, Lemon, Banana and Spirulina.  Usually I love to add honey in my smoothies to help sweeten it up a little bit - but there is no need with this green juice!!!

A new little market that serves hot food opened up recently near to my job.  I picked up their beef stew with pastele dumplings and a pernil plate with gandule rice and it was SOOOO YUM!  We've been on the look out for a good pastele stew (since the best we've had comes from a friend's grandma on the Big Island), and though it isn't quite pastele stew - it'll pass until we find one!

Who isn't on the party party app train yet?  I'm love love loving it and having a blast creating different gifs.  I'm also addicted to searching the #partypartyapp hashtag on instagram to see what others are doing as well.

buy it here
Just in case you didn't know!! :)  Have a fab weekend!

PS: I'm backing it up with Whit today!

Weekly Wishes // 008

Monday, July 21, 2014

The start of a brand new week! Just what the doctor ordered.  I got hit with a BIG LESSON IN LIFE this weekend, and I'm so glad to start anew today.  One thing I am happy about with this lesson is that is SPARKED the fire in me to get back into creating the life that I ultimately want to live.  This week I have three goals and two wishes (that I am not subjecting myself to prioritize, but if they happen - kudos for me).

My Three Goals:
I've been wanting to launch a simple print shop for well over a year.  A few months ago I finally found my "niche" in creating the content for it - and so this week I want to focus on creating a few more pieces before I can go ahead and upload everything into an etsy shop and launch it.

Although variety is the spice of life, I think simply, easy (also known as repeated meals, possibly made in bulk) might be the way to go at this point in life.  Last week I got breakfast down, this week I'm working on lunch - for real this time.  When I did my Purium cleanse I had a very easy time not paying attention to the buffet line.  So now I know, its all a mind game - and this is one that I will conquer!

I've been talking about it forever, and I just want it to be a really, really well done post.  I absolutely love this brand and their products.  They most definitely work and have made its way into my every day routine.  I can't wait to share it with all of you and hopefully inspire you all to jump start your health today!!  PS: If you can't wait, and checked out the site, I have a $50 gift card for ALL OF YOU!  Just use the code: AUKELE to get $50 off the package you select.

My Two Wishes:
I always talk about working out, but it just never happens.  Here's to hoping I get out of this major major rut I've been in far too long.

Though they layout and everything else an average blogger would want in place before launching a new blog isn't ready - I can still create and draft posts while I'm waiting for those other pieces to come together.  I'll definitely be keeping this in mind this week when I'm in the kitchen.

Oh, Hey Friday!

Friday, July 18, 2014

Easing back into this thing called blogging, I thought it was be fun to do a few link-ups to re-orient myself, if you will back.  Today I decided to do a relatively new link up with September F A R M and The Farmer's Wife, oh, hey friday where you talk about five things!

So here it goes:

There is this thing called Tropical Storm Wali around these parts of the Pacific and apparently it'll bring a whole bunch of wind and rain - so pretty much my beach plans have been canceled.  BOO!  Here are five ways I'm planning on spending my weekend:

1| Baking
It's been a while since I've gotten my hands dirty in some batter!  Mostly because I had run out of flour and haven't restocked, though I've been to Target a gazillion times in between.  I'm thinking either brownies or oatmeal raisin cookies or something totally off the wall that has yet to be conjured up in my head??!! I guess we'll find out next week, when lo and behold I actually post a recipe.
2| Netflixing
It's a thing, right? Netflixing?  Well that or DVR'ing.  I have a load of shows to go through, and come to think of it, the entire season of The Night Shift is on my DVR and I have yet to watch one show. Hello marathon :-)
3| Working Out
This is the weekend I'm going to start working out for real!  I have a perfectly good stationery bike sitting at home and a carport where I can do weights and all sorts of calisthenic type exercises.  Rain & wind is no excuse!

4| Meal Planning
I've been failing to plan and consequently majorly planning to fail all my efforts with the Purium 10 Day Celebrity Transformation that I did last month. (CODE: AUKELE for $50 off your package).  Lately I've been feeling a little bloated so I will be researching an easy menu plan for me to follow next week with some Flat Belly inspiration.

5| Pampering
Last week I had every intention to get a pedicure and time got lost, and it didn't happen.  So I definitely need to get a pedicure and eye brow wax this weekend.  While I'm at it, I think I'll be going to The Face Shop to get a couple of face masks and whatever other goodies I can find to pamper myself! :-)

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!! What will you be doing?? Hope it is sunny with a breeze in your neck of the woods!

How to Keep Lifelong Friendships

Thursday, July 17, 2014

Life is a wild, crazy place to not have a best friend (or two).  Friends are such an important part of your social circle.  They are your cheerleaders, #1 fans, partners in crime.  They are the ones you can feel most comfortable with, without feeling judged or being lectured.
I am lucky to have three best friends.  Two that live here, and my college best friend that lives in Washington.  Today I wanted to talk about Geneva and Melissa (better known as Gee and Miss).  I’ve known them pretty much my entire life.  Miss and I had been going to school together since we were seven years old, and Gee joined the group when we were eleven; however we’ve all known each other longer than that through children’s church at our church.  These two are the only friends from high school that I keep in touch with on a regular basis.  No, not just social media – we’re talking; weekly group texts, phone calls and dinner dates at least once a quarter (though those are somehow turning more frequently into lunch dates).  Hey! We’re nearing thirty people.

Here are SIX reasons our friendship has lasted throughout the years:

1) We are happy and mad for each other when the other is happy and mad.
We support each other throughout the feelings of daily life.  If Miss is mad at her girlfriend, we’re mad too.  When Miss makes up with her girlfriend, cause she is the sweetest thing ever – we’re genuinely happy for her.
2) We share our honest opinions without judging personal choices.
We all go through times in life where we vent out situations and receive advice or guidance from each other (solicited or not).  I think what keeps us going is that we all respect each other’s choices even though we might not agree with it.  We’re there for each other and will support each other through all of life’s curveballs.
3) We can be 100% completely ourselves.
We’ve known each other for well over ten years, and we can be our truest selves, quirks and all unabashedly.  We’ve also evolved with each other.  Everyone changes over time, and we still accept and love each other through good and bad.
4) We can “tease” each other and not be “girls” about it.
Hawaii has a different culture when it comes to “teasing”.  If you didn’t grow up here – it is a definite learning curve; and even at that, sometimes people just don’t adapt to it.  It isn’t really teasing to us, but more like “razzing” if that makes any sense.  For instance...

5) We are always there for each other when we’re needed the most.
When I went through my break up last October I didn’t really expect my friends to be there for me the way they were – simply because during that relationship I wasn’t the best friend a friend could have.  I disengaged and my life revolved around my ex.  But they were THERE.  We went to dinner that first weekend and just let me air out everything, REPEATEDLY.  They helped me move out of my place, went on errands with me, helped me set up my dog’s kennel.  They were there without question – and I will cherish that forever.  Not only physically, but constant texts – updating them on the latest and greatest; without showing irritation or the feeling of.. “she’s going over this drama AGAIN?!”
6) We aren’t jealous people.
As we grow older and evolve we all will have different people coming in and out of our lives.  Sometimes those new relationships may be “on blast” on social media, and sometimes friends can become jealous or envious.  We’re not like that.  We all have our own lives and different relationships with people – but it doesn’t change how close we are as friends and our bond.  The three of us are very secure in that and it is the glue that holds us together.

Do you have any tips on how you've kept your lifelong friendships?

I was called out by a few people on Facebook and Instagram to do the 20 Facts challenge and so I thought I'd post it up here as well!  I rarely ever get tagged to do these things so it was kind of fun to think of some unique and little idiosyncrasies about myself that most people don't know.  Hope you enjoy it :)

Currently Loving // 006

Wednesday, July 9, 2014

Say what???  Yes - I'm easing back into blogging with one of my favorite posts to write... the Currently Loving series!!!  Before we get started though, I just want to say that last week was like - the best week ever.  First off, it was my birthday week - but it was just really good!! My sweet "R" has just been really amazing to me this last week, and I'm just a happy girl.  I wish I could share more, but I think I'm going to actually just hold off on that part of life for a bit and keep it a bit more private.  I don't need to share my relationship with the world, and to be quite honest - there are some "non-fans" out there and I just want to make sure they stay on the bleachers and not try to come play on the field - you catch my drift?!

(PS: COULD I HAVE SAID "JUST" ANYMORE IN THAT PARAGRAPH! WOW!!) #justsayin --- I had to, lol! Sorry! Ok, for real now...

Moving on.... :)

Mizz Whitney Ellen has the most softest shirts ever!!! I picked up her Blogger Shot Caller shirt and I'm thinking I need to get the one she just came out with today!!
get that shizz here!

Oh wait - hold on.  Check me out rockin that B.S.C shirt!!

This was a really good read about how this couple has lasted for the past 15 years!

Last month I did a 10 Day Celebrity Transformation ($50 gift card redemption with code AUKELE).  The review is coming soon, I promise!  But my eating life has definitely changed after that (with the exception of birthday week).  Literally, my body hates me when I put bad things in it and I feel all types of uncomfortable.  So liquid green is a definite constant and current love for me! :)  The bad boy below contains kale, spinach, mint, apple, lemon, banana and spirulina.  YUM!

Who doesn't love some good 'ol humor on Facebook.  I love watching all the vines, smack cam, scare cam, prank cam... #allthecams They are some fun stuff, but this one just makes me laugh every time I read it and I can't get enough of it (probably cause I use that last word in my vocabulary on a weekly basis).

Seriously??? How cute is that.  I can't get over it!

And lastly, this DIY from Lovely Indeed!! It's been what - I don't even know, but too long since I've done a DIY and I'm super digging this one!  I think it's high time I get back into that :-)

So that is what I've been loving lately!!!  And my current jam is none other than RUDE from the group MAGIC.  It's so weird, but so darn catchy.  Who writes a song about a dad turning a dude down from marrying his daughter, and the dude is pretty much like - oh well buddy, get used to calling me son! Too much I tell you...

Hello July!!

Tuesday, July 1, 2014

I just kind of need to chuckle, cause where in the heck did June go?  I don’t even have a good enough reason for being MIA, but I was.

Hello to all of you readers still out there supporting me!  LOVE YOU TO THE MOON.
Anyhow – summer has been quite a summer.  I’ve had a few ups and downs. So I guess a short little re-cap of the past month is due – pictures included ;)!
Me and the beach have been enjoying each other.  Sometimes with R and sometimes with my nephew and Kaimana.  It is the simple things in life that warm the soul, and spending a perfect day at the beach on a blanket with a good read, some snacks and great company – well life doesn’t get any better than that.
Kailua Beach, Hawaii
Hakimo Beach, Hawaii

I’ve also been in the kitchen!!! Though I have nothing to show for my darling kitchen blog that is STILL in the making; I’m still crafting and perfecting recipes.  Once it is all up and running, it’ll be so much easier – but until then, bare with me while I procrastinate my dreams.  (SO SAD).
This month we celebrated a ton of birthdays.  But specifically, we had a huge celebration for my gramps!  He turned 85.  Low and behold, R’s birthday was the day of the party as well so he got a little extra special attention as well.

Last month I did my first 10 Day Celebrity Transformation with Purium and I couldn’t be happier.  I won’t divulge too much information today because I am working on a complete review for you all.  However, if my pictures speak for themselves and you want in.. NOW… click the link, and enter the coupon code, AUKELE for $50 off your package!!  Since Nov 2013 I've lost 38 pounds, and on Purium I lost 12 pounds.
Nov 2013 - June 2014

Before and After Purium - June 2014
I promise to hang out a bit more this summer!!! For real :)
