Just a Thought...

Friday, October 31, 2014

I found this little piece on instagram the other day and I think it is so true, so I wanted to share it with all of you today.  I'm especially thankful for love today! Enjoy everyone.

They say love is blind.  I disagree.
Infatuation is blind, love is all-seeing and accepting.

Love is seeing all the flaws and blemishes and accepting them.
Love is accepting the bad habits and mannerisms, and working around them.
Love is recognizing all the fears and insecurities, and knowing your role is to comfort.
Love is working through all the challenges and painful times.

Infatuation is fragile and will shatter when life is not perfect.
Love is strong and it strengthens because it is real.

Stronger Than You Think

Thursday, October 23, 2014

Life will always throw you curveballs.  Sometimes you dodge them, sometimes they side swipe you and sometimes they straight knock you to the ground.

Regardless of how it hits you, one thing remains true and the same is that you get up again and you keep on going getting stronger and stronger.

Some curveballs you dodge and will always know how to dodge them.  Some curveballs you have to observe a couple of times to learn its path so you know how to dodge it.

Either way - with each trial, challenge and lesson in life we learn, we grow, we become better, we become wiser and we become stronger!

Lately life has been quite amazing.  We had a small hurricane scare with Hurricane Ana.  Luckily we just had a ton of rain and that was that.  Cuddle weather?? Yes and thank you!  I live up on a big hill and the clouds were so low you couldn't see down to the end of the hill, or the harbor which was kind of neat.

Last month I ordered my iPhone 6 and am still waiting for it.  BOOO!!!  It's kind of bothersome, because  a certain someone is waiting for me to get it so she can have my old phone. So I'm itching to get my hands on it.  I already bought a case and the tempered glass covering for the screen from Amazon - just waiting for the dang phone!  Apparently it should be shipping by the 27th, but last week it was supposed to be by the 18th - so fingers crossed on that one.

Lately, we've also been bidding (and winning) jerseys online.  It's been fun and a little bit of a rush.  The worst part? Waiting for it to arrive on your front door!

On another note - love is definitely work!  It is hard work sometimes and sometimes its easy breezy.  I'm thankful for love though, because loving someone amidst everything life throws at you - it teaches you about yourself and helps you to grow.  When you're actively loving someone without condition it is telling what you and the other person is made of - and for that I'm thankful for.

6 TV Shows I Want To Come Back

Thursday, October 16, 2014

Everything you want to bring back from the 90s has been popping up on social media everywhere! Some do videos, some do lists (hello Buzzfeed)! I love taking those trips down memory lane and it got me thinking about the television shows that I miss.

Here are six shows I wish never retired:

1) Weeds

Because hello Hunter Parrish!  Although I'm not a fan of any type of recreational drug, I did thoroughly enjoy this series and the characters, not to mention I have the theme song down.. "Little boxes on the hillside..."

2) Dead Like Me

I found this show one night on Netflix and was so bummed to find out it was only two seasons long.  Lame sauce!  And I'm pretty sure it isn't on Netflix anymore either which is a huge bummer.  I loved this mix of characters.

3) Lie to Me

I love a good crime series and this one definitely had a unique twist on it!

4) Whose Line is it Anyway?

Who doesn't like improv comedy?!  I really liked Wayne Brady in this show, he seemed to be a bit more humble.

 5) Private Practice

Because I'm a Grey's die-hard, and wasn't quite ready to give up on Addison yet.  At first it took me a while to adjust to the characters, but I really ended up loving them!!  It was a great cast, and I'm so sad that this show ended.

6) Sex and the City

Because what girl doesn't wish the series never ended.  They are the best friends we never had.

Have you seen any of these shows? Which ones do you wish were still around?? Any shows that I missed?

Friday Morning Coffee

Friday, October 3, 2014

What a week it has been. Some weeks drag on for what seems forever, and some of them (like this one) flys by so quickly you don't even know what just happened.  I'm so there.  I've started on a couple of new projects at work, and with the holidays rolling around - things are picking up very quickly!  Besides that, I'm a part of a professional organization called the Association of Nutrition and Food Service Professionals (ANFP).  We had our bi-annual workshop yesterday, and somehow I walked out of there as the new President-Elect officer. I  have no idea what I'm getting myself into, but errrr... Yay!  We'll see how that goes.  Anyhow - here are some links that I've been loving from the internet lately!  Go get a cup of joe, take a midday break and enjoy :)

You've Got What it Takes!

Thursday, October 2, 2014

Pinterest is always there for you when you need it!  There is a reason we all have quote boards, because one day we need to pull some inspiration out of there.  Whether it is relating to friendships, love, family, laughs, success - it's all in those notorious quote boards.  And so today, I thought I'd share with you some of the quotes that I've been leaning on lately!  Enjoy :)

Brain Dump! Plus - It's FALL!

Wednesday, October 1, 2014

Don't be getting all technical with me now! I know Fall started oh 11 days ago, but just the sound of October sounds much more official.  Although I can't say it feels like fall here in Hawaii with the humidity we've been having.

Disclaimer: This post really doesn't have a rhyme or reason and it a collection of all the jargon stuck in my brain.  Considered this a RAW post!

Lately I realized that I've been dressing all wrong.  I haven't been feeling confident in my work attire and am in the process of slowly changing it out.  Right now I'm loving Old Navy's fall collection, and if I could I'd buy every piece, I would.  But since I ain't no baller - piece by piece.  The pixie pants are so comfortable and fit pretty well - I am a little disappointed that the camel color isn't flattering on me which is a bummer.  My default jeans are definitely the Rockstar Mid-Rise Skinny jeans.  I could live in those.  Interestingly enough I found a pair of jeggings at Walmart that received a ton of compliments.  I think I'll pick up another pair this paycheck.  I'm also on the hunt for some good leopard print pieces to add to my wardrobe.

One big NEW ITEM I have to share with you all is that I'm a contributor for the Hello Nature blog and my first post officially published last week!! So exciting, right?? I shared a fall inspired Roasted Butternut Squash recipe and you should definitely check it out because.... word on the street is that it's so enticing a few women who have detested butternut squash is seriously considering giving it a try!  So stop on by.  This coming month I'll be sharing another deletable recipe as well as a Holiday inspired post - so make sure you get Hello Nature in your blog reader!

September has definitely been a month of learning to balance.  I haven't quite gotten it down - as I've slacked on recipe posting for Whippin' Kitchen so I'm really hoping to iron that out this month.  I have three recipes waiting to be posted.  Apparently, slacking on photo editing gets you no where.  And then of course - paid contributor gigs are the priority right?  Well not completely, but committing to something of the sort and challenging myself to be able to follow through in a timely manner is progress for me, for sure.
via Frikken Duckie

And so, moving on - it's a rare occasion that I get excited about Halloween (I've only semi-dressed up once and at that, it was more so just face make-up, see here), or even have a costume or character in mind before October even hits.  Alas, this year I'm going to dress up as a CHOLA!  And for some odd reason I can't be more excited.  Bring on the plaid, converse, dark lips, big hoop earrings!  I'm excited.  And I'll definitely be going pinterest crazy on makeup tutorials and outfit ideas.  Oh and what do you know - My girl DUCKIE already has a post about it, check it here!

I think that's enough randomness for now!!  It's Wednesday - and although people are excited it's hump day, I've got about five meetings to attend this afternoon and so I'll be happy when the day is over!

xoxo, Aukele
